Summary:
The Director of Construction will be responsible for providing strategic direction for Construction Operations Managers and Project Managers and ensure future growth of the Department.
The Director of Construction will be responsible for leading, coaching, and growing the knowledge, skills, and career growth of the Construction Operations Managers and their respective departments.
The Construction Director will also oversee the Construction Estimating Manager to ensure the estimating process leads to a seamless construction start of new work and profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities Develop the leadership, independent thinking, ownership and decision making skills of your teams.
Foster and encourage a ONE TEAM mentality and be a resource to guide your team to success.
Develop and communicate expectations to your team.
Drive operation efficiencies and excellence through the use of measurable metrics.
Lead by example and continuously coach your team to improve.
Develop the Operations Managers and Project Management teams with a strong focus on:
Communication with customers Communication with vendors Timely and accurate documentation Emphasize and guaranty every customer has an exceptional experience and everybody on your team realizes they are responsible for enhancing the customer experience.
Ensure all team members understand the software they need to utilize on a daily basis to a level of mastery.
Ensure all systems are operational and reach out to appropriate parties to troubleshoot on behalf of the team if not.
Identify opportunities for improvement and implement them as necessary.
Participate in development of budgets for new jobs and annual budget planning.
Provide recommendations and alternatives to construction processes and methods.
Monitor financial performance of the construction department through monthly review of financials statements.
Understand and explain variances to Controller.
Compare budget to actual financial statements.
Review work in progress.
Identify and address cost overages to ensure anticipated financial targets are met.
Perform monthly visits to each field location office.
Ensure large, complex, or geographically distant jobs are able to be produced and tools and resources are available for success.
Visit jobs in pipeline and in production to ensure job site appearance and workmanship meet company expectations.
Ensure all team members are properly trained and continuously train team members.
Verify projects are managed with deadlines in mind and achieving successful outcomes.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor's degree 10-15 years of experience managing construction projects Ability to identify and articulate problems and develop solutions to these problems Experience with implementation and adherence to processes Ability to identify and correct inefficiencies Experience leading multiple teams towards successfully achieving goals Ability to influence decision making processes and team buy in on those decisions Job Type:
