Position Summary The Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and must be willing to serve in the superintendent's capacity during their absence.
Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, cart paths, roughs, and native areas.
Position Duties/Responsibilities Directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, rough, native grass areas and cart paths.
Assist in planning day to day tasks depending on weather and golf schedules! Help to train Groundskeepers to become skilled and efficient on the task at hand.
Assist other superintendents in supervising the crew and dispersing daily crew work assignments.
Perform daily tasks necessary to keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe within the departmental operating budget.
Perform snow removal with a snowplow safely when required.
Maintain application records and labor tracking for operations and projects.
Apply sand, fertilizers and pesticide in a safe, proper way utilizing spreaders and sprayers.
Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding turf care product use, storage, cleanup, disposal, spill containment, and safety requirements.
Help keep all application equipment properly calibrated and in good working condition.
Establish and maintain all inventory levels of all turf care products.
Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in developing annual operating budget for applications, equipment, and golf course maintenance operations.
Be able to operate computer related hardware and software relating to applications, equipment, and golf course maintenance operations.
Ensure that personal protective equipment is worn as prescribed and required on the product labels.
Perform all functions relative to application activities, golf course set-up and maintenance a directed.
Inspect all equipment and report any deficiencies to the Equipment Manager Physical Demands and Work Environment Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places, extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical to this position.
Must be able to safely lift up to 50-80 pounds; lift overhead and push/pull, ascend or descent ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while, walking, sitting, crouching or navigating narrow, slippery surfaces.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Valid Driver's License Must have or be willing to obtain a current state licensing a pesticide applicator.
Available to work weekend mornings and holidays.
Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
Knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.
Excellent time management skills.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
